Product Description

Through carving a Swedish-style wooden Butter/Jam Knife (smör kniv), you’ll learn knife grips and cuts (as well as safety and sharpening), how to work with the grain of the wood, and finishing techniques.

We’ll also talk about how these skills can be applied to other woodcarving projects, and the use of a saw and axe.

No experience necessary

Non-refundable (though you can pass it to someone else if you can’t attend)


  • A carving knife if you have one (I’ll have some to lend).
    • If you want to purchase one in advance, I recommend:
      • Mora Kniv 120 Wood Carving Knife (about $25)
  • Your lunch (we’ll take a break, plan to stay onsite).
  • A chair or blanket for sitting (we’ll be outside unless it rains).
  • Hat, Jacket, Shoes, Water Bottle, etc.
